about dump and restore command

Hi

i have a cu that dump an hfs fs to magnetic tape.

he want know to restore the magnetic tape to a vxfs file system .

i told him that he can create an hfs fs and restore it to then and then copy the file to the vxfs but he want to know if he can do it direcly .

i saw that the dump command will dump only hfs fs but in the man page i didnt saw that he must restore to an hfs .

does someone have an idea or an answer ?

Hi,
You are quite right about the man but since you are dumping /dev/rdsk/something (raw device)I doubt you will succeed on vxfs like that...
