Re: about file systems

On PA-RISC systems that is a requirement of teh HP-UX kernel. As far as I know it cannot be converted.

I don't know if the same requirement holds true on Itanium systems though.

Re: about file systems

Is it just a requirement and no other reason, why it is created as hfs when OS is loaded?

Re: about file systems

Have a read through these links:

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=781041

http://docs.hp.com/en/5964-5283/ch02s08.html

http://www.unix.com/hp-ux/5940-hp-ux-filesystem-backup-restore.html
(Go to the very bottom of the page).

Basically on PA-RISC systems /stand MUST be HFS, that is why it is created that way.

As stated in the first link above, on ITANIUM systems it can be VxFS.
