Re: about PVRA VGRA LVM
the commands "vgdisplay", "pvdisplay", and "lvdisplay" are those to display the contents of VGRA, and PVRA.
Then there is "lvlnboot -v" to show the contents of the "BDRA" (Boot Disk Reserved Area), and the only additional tool I have heard about is "Xvg", which is a graphical display of your LVM configuration. You can get it form the Responce Center in Atlanta

Re: about PVRA VGRA LVM
Just for clarification purposes:
The PVRA contains a unique ID number for the physical volume and pointers to the Bad Block Pool. This is a transparent software which is only used if disk hardware sparing fails. This is created by the command pvcreate.
The VGRA contains:
- The VGDA (Volume Group Descriptor Area) which identifies the logical and physical volumes and maps the logical to the physical extents.
- The VGSA (Volume Group Status Area) which manages the status of the Phyiscal Volume (missing/present) and the Physical Extent (Stale/Current).
- MCR (Mirror Consistency Record) which is used only for mirroring for disk writes progress listing purposes.
These things are created by the vgcreate command.
HTH,
Vince
