About Sendmail and pop account

hi,

I beginner in hp-ux.
I need install sendmail y pop in a hp9000 with release 11.

But i do not know where find package POP.

I have those packages installed in a sun ultra 5 and work fine.

anyone can help me?

you can use qpopper
download the depot here:

http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Networking/Mail/qpopper-2.53/

or
make it from source:

http://www.qpopper.com/

and add this line to /etc/inetd.conf

pop3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/bin/popper popper -s -d -c -t /var/adm/syslog/popper.log

I modified the inetd.conf.

I was installed with swinstall but no run

I compiled, without problem but no run.


Which the problem ?

after you modifed inetd.conf
you have to run

inetd -c
that rereads the changes that you made to your inetd.conf file

I did the next:

1: I modified the inetd.conf

2: I compiled / installed qpopper

3: reboot

4: I checked the log

May 12 14:38:45 email inetd[520]: protocol = tcp
May 12 14:38:45 email inetd[520]: pop3/tcp: Added service, server /usr/bin/pop
per
May 12 14:38:45 email inetd[520]: Configuration complete

5: ps -edaf | grep pop

root 1210 1195 0 14:44:42 pts/1 0:00 grep pop

Hello again

Qpopper is now running fine
I type en inetd.conf :

pop3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/bin/popper popper -s -d -t /var/adm/syslog/popper.log

whitout "-c"

And inetd -c
