The home office recently installed a proxy server and since then we haven't be able to connect the hp-ux 11.0 box to the internet using either Netscape, IE, or Oracle.
On Netscape and IE I've gone in and set the proxy information. We're able to get to the signon screen but after that the browser simply flashes rapidly between the following two messages:
"Connect... to xx.xx.xx.xx" and
"....................................waiting for reply"
Are there any settings on the HP that should be looked at or is the problem likely to be with the proxy server's permissions or settings?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Accessing the Internet through a proxy?
make sure that the HP-UX box can contact the proxy server. Use ping to see if it gets a response. If you get a response, check the proxy setup. Also make sure that in Netscape or IE you specified the correct port number for connecting to the proxy.
hope this helps

Solution
If Denver's suggestions fail, I would contact your home office to see if the firewall is logging reject messages like crazy. It is possible that the proxy port number needs to be opened up.
