Re: Accessing the UNIX-FS from Windows
please have a look at the HP-UX 11i Application CD4. There is a programm called HP-CIFS Server - better known as SAMBA.
Install that, make all settings and after a succesfull installation you will be able to access the UNIX Filesystem from a MS-Windows PC.
Best greetings
Karsten

Re: Accessing the UNIX-FS from Windows
SAMBA, aka CIFS server and Client is the answer for you. You can download and install from
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=CIFSTP3
You can use swat to configure SAMBA.

Solution- The Name of the Package is B8725AA and the corresponding version is A.02.02
- At the Server End you will find a default smb.conf file under /etc/opt/samba. The configuration is depending from your local security and permission settings.I recommend to study the smb.conf file.
_ At client site there is nothing to do except mapping the Network-Drive ( pointing to your UNIX Machine).
I hope this will help you further.
Greetings
Karsten

Re: Accessing the UNIX-FS from Windows
For accessing files from Windows on HP-UX, you can use, smbclient which is part of SAMBA package.
Also, Upgrade to samba 3.x due to several bug fixes and vulnerabilities.

Re: Accessing the UNIX-FS from Windows
The app cd's contain outdated versions of Samba aka CIFS/9000.
You are much better off with the links already provided from the http://software.hp.com site.
Note that the Samba server install will work while a system is running but the Samba client requires a kernel recompile and boot of the system.
Please plan and schedule accordingly.
