Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on HP-UX
I have a weird problem. I have installed Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on my C8000 System. All requirements are fulfilled (IMHO).
GTK 2.6.8 is installed.
If I start acroread under root rights Acrobat Reader appears. I got only a message, that the PPKLite.api Plugin can't loaded.
If I do this under a user the first time, I get the start screen, where I can see which plugins are loaded and I get the license window, that I accept. After that nothing happens. The acroread process is in the process list but Acrobat Reader doesn't appear.
Afdter that I can only kill the acroread process. If I start it again, I get no starting screen from the reader as I am used to. acroread ist in the process list again. Then I remove the .adobe directory in the users home and try again. Now the start screen appears as before and nothing happens. As root user I have no problems. All libary paths are accessible by the users. I have no ideas.
Can you help me?

Are all files readable for the users?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on HP-UX
Sounds like a bug. I might be willing to try it on one more system, but after that if the results are the same its time to forget about it.
There are older, stable versions for HP-UX, 5.0.8 comes to mind. You'll need to file a bug report to help them improve their product.

Re: Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on HP-UX
found this.

PPKLite.api Failed to Load
PPKLite requires the OpenLDAP package to be installed on the system,
and fails to initialize in its absence. If you get this error when acroread
starts up, you will need to install the LDAP libraries (OpenLDAP package).
If PPKLite still fails to load, make a link to the installed libldap.so.X and
liblber.so.X in
'libldap.so' and 'liblber.so'.

Hope this helps,

Re: Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on HP-UX
As Robert specified, if you need OpenLDAP, get it from Internet Express package

Re: Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on HP-UX
It was just a file locking problem that was easily solved with clear_locks command.
The PPKLite.api is not really needed by us. So I moved it away and the the error message is not coming off again.

It was just a file locking problem, because my home directory is a autmount. That was easily solved with clear_locks command.
