Activating Mirroring on HP-UX 11i

I have and HP 9000 with 11i HP-UX. I need to active the mirroring since it was not activated as I have just received the codeword for activation. How do i go about it

You need to install Mirror UX to activate the mirroring

Once you have the codeword, you will need to:

1) Mount the appropriate applications CD.

2) Start-up the interactive version of swinstall
# swinstall

3) Specify the Source Type as "Local CD ROM" and point the Depot Path to where the CD is mounted.

4) Choose the "Add Codeword" option from the "Actions" pull-down menu.

5) Mark the software selection and then choose "Install Analysis" from the "Actions" menu to install.

The codewords are indeed to be able to install the MirrorDisk/UX software from the CD.
After you install the software, it is absolutely very important to reinstall ALL your LVM patches (reinstall already installed patches). The MirrorDisk/UX installation overwrites patched LVM executables and libraries with unpatched (but mirroring enabled) versions). Alternatively, just install the latest LVM patches after installing MirrorDisk/UX.
Be aware that you cannot mirror logical volumes that use striping.
If your logival volume is not striped, try executing "lvchange -s n " and then "lvextend -m 1 . This way your logical volume is mirrored without having to worry about where the mirror is written, but it will show that mirroring is working. For production mirroring, I advise options -s y or -s g.

After installing the mirror-ux with the codeword, you need to configure, mirror the lvol in the vg. used
lvextend -m 1 /dev/vgxx/lvolx /dev/dsk/cxtxdx
