You can stop STM.
Remove or rename the file.
Start STM.

Procedure to stop and start STM:
# xstm
Go to.... File->Administration->STM Shutdown
Now rename or remove activity_log file.
# xstm
Go to.... File->Administration->STM Startup

There may be some important message in the activity_log file. STM always logs any errors, messages and warnings to the log files.
If the file has increased suddenly then we should look at the cause of the problem. If there is nothing important, then you may rename/remove them.
