Adding a DVD/tape drive to an existing nPar cell
I have never worked with nPars before and my question is: how do I add a SCSI tape/DVD unit to an existing cell. I have tried to use the graphical parmgr interface but it does not see the devices on the I/O screen.

Re: Adding a DVD/tape drive to an existing nPar cell
Hi Pete,
Is the scsi controller to which you want to connect this tape drive active in your npar yes.
If yes,
Just add the stape driver to your kernel,
Reboot the npar
Connect the tape drive
ioscan -fnC tape
insf -e
ioscan -funC tape

Re: Adding a DVD/tape drive to an existing nPar cell
Hi,
Which is the server that you work ? is it a superdome ? In superdome there is no internal drives.
Moreover you dont have to do any specific config to ass DVD/tape in a nPar. If the DVD/tape is connected to any of the IO cards/SCSI channels which is part of the nPar, then the DVD/tape would get sensed in O/S without any further config.
After identifing the devices in #ioscan, you can use the devices as like any other standalone system.
With Regards,
Siva.

Re: Adding a DVD/tape drive to an existing nPar cell
do you have an i/o card in the i/o chassis of this Npar that will support the tape drive?
If yes, I assume you can see it with ioscan?
now you need to connect the tape using the correct cable, and the power on the unit.
Then try doing ioscan -f.
if you do not have a card availabe, you will need to add one in.
