Adding a processor.

I'm considering adding 1, 2 or 3 additional processors on my K-420 HP-UX 10.20. Are there any configuration/kernel issues that I may want to know about? So far I've been told there's nothing special to do! True?
It's not impossible -- it'll just cost more...

Re: Adding a processor.

Yes, it is true.
Hardware installation, run diagnostics (stm-eventually), check with top, sam whatever tool your new "heads" are there and are properly functioning. Be sure you have the correct level of patches (ex.PHNE_21433, PHKL_21420, PHSS_21427) to spread across multiple CPUs the load (ensure the multiprocessor control).

Re: Adding a processor.

Should be no sweat, just add it and go. There may be some kernel trimming you may want to do down the street after accumulating some metrics with measureware, but nothing drastic.
