Re: adding a Usb printer to HP-ux server

You don't.

HP-UX does not support ANY USB devices other than a keyboard and mouse.

You would have to: 1) set this printer up on the network and then set it up in HP-UX as a network printer (requires Jetdirect printer installer software available here: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_query=jet+direct+printer+installer&h_tool=software&h_lang=en ) or 2) set this printer up on a machine that does support USB printers (a windows server or PC would work) and then set this printer up as a remote printer on your HP-UX machine.

The network printer route would definitely be the easiest.

Purchase an HP JetDirect adapter (the 175X is a good choice), plug in the printer to the adapter and use hppi or SAM to add your printer. Some of the details will require the manufacturer and model of the printer.
