Adding Additional Oracle Instances To An MCSG Package
Hello All,
We have an MCSG cluster running Oracle 8.1.6. I have to add an additional three instances to the same package.
What is the best way to do this? Thanks in advance to all replies.

Re: Adding Additional Oracle Instances To An MCSG Package
Hello,
You can definately run more than one instance in a package, but I would create a new package for your new instances.
The most important thing to remember is that you need to update your cluster.ascii file for any new volume groups, the package control file and if you are using the ORACLE.sh script from the cluster master toolkit, you need one for each instance as the .sh supports only one instance.
I know this is quick and dirty, but you should get the gist
Good luck
Chris

Re: Adding Additional Oracle Instances To An MCSG Package
Hello again.
I want to point out that there is a lot involved with this, and instead of trying to type it all out, risking mistakes and all, go to the technical knowledge base and execute a search using "uxsg" as your keyword. There are 6 pages of engineering notes on how to do various tasks in Service Guard.
I still think, however, you should make several packages for each new instance you are creating.
