Adding EMC disks to HPUX server

I am having a problem adding an EMC disk to my server. The EMC disks show in sequential order when in EMC's symmConsole. Yet I add 3 disks and only 2 show up. Within symmConsole target and lun 00-02 go to a different server, 03-05 goto the server in question. Target and lun 04 and 05 show on the server but 02 doesn't. We have patch # PHKL_24004, which is supposed to be several versions past the problem with sequential numbering with EMC frames. What could be causing this problem?

Hi Jason,

What is the ioscan output showing. If the disk is sensed by the server and is seen through ioscan, you should be able to add those disks in the vg without any problem.

ioscan -fnC disk

or ioscan -fnH Hardware_path

You mean 03 doesn't show up, right?

Is this SCSI or FC attached?

I meant 03. In all the changes I have made it is now showing. But, is there still a known problem with non-sequential numbering on EMC frames with HP? Also when they talk about sequential numbering are they talking at the Frame or on the HP? Hopefully the frame.

Also check whehter the disk you ahve pulled is not a gate keeper , may be you can use the inq or syminq command to check the same .

The sequential numbering is certainly with LUNs ate frame and is resolved with new patches. I have my frame with non-sequential luns working with patches.
Use EMC inq utility to make sure you are able to see all disks.
Couple of times I had trouble getting new EMC luns recognised by HP and multiple #insf -e, command helped me overcome the problem.
