We have an RP8400 running 11i. The server has two chassis, with identical cards in identical slots on each chassis.
Slot 1 on both sides has an A6795A HP Tachyon TL/TS 1Gb/2Gb fc card.
Slot 8 on both sides has an A5158A HP Tachyon XL2 1Gb fc card.
These four cards all work perfectly, with chassis 1 effectively performing an alternate link role.
The problem I have is that in slot 2 on both sides, there is an fc card labelled A6386-60001. These do not work, and do not show on an ioscan. I do not know the history of these cards as I inherited the system with them already installed. I would like to get them working as part of a plan to connect to some new external storage.
I suspect it could be a driver issue, but don't know. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Solution
This card is NOT a Fibre Channel card, but a networking card:
A6386A HF2 PCI 4X Fiber host-based interface card for HyperFabric (HF2)
You woul dneed the HyperFabric software to use thse cards, and they would be of no use in connecting disks.

Re: Adding fc cards
Have a look at the info here re: your A6386A adapters.
http://docs.hp.com/en/5990-7288/ch07s03.html#chdhcdic
They're networking and not fc storage devices. Also require the HyprFabrc-00 bundle, available for download here

Hope this helps,
