Adding HP4200 and HP4300 printers to HPDPS
I am in the process of beginning to use HPDPS. I have mostly HP4200 and HP4300 printers. Apparently, I have to add them as a customized printer model attribute since they don't show as supported printer models. There must be an easy way to do this, rather than build the attribute file myself. Has anyone else done this? It appears that maybe I could define them as generic printers, but that seems pretty silly, too.

Re: Adding HP4200 and HP4300 printers to HPDPS
Did you look at using HPPI or jetadmin (old) and determine that these aren't for you?
I would use HPPI.(free!!!!)

They keep making this harder and harder to find on the website!
Download the JetDirect Print Installer utility from here, it will let you support your printers...

Re: Adding HP4200 and HP4300 printers to HPDPS
HPDPS is in idle development mode (no more updates). The JetDirect printer installer is designed and distributed by the printer division within HP so it tends to be updated fairly regularly. But having the printer added to lp using the addqueue command, you still need to defined the unknown printer to HPDPS. I wouldn't expect much more work to be done on HPDPS.
