Affective uid after mounting a volume with CIFS client
I've been searching high and low but cannot find any answer to this on HP site. I am looking for a similar functionality I have on Linux. Namely, to be able to mount a remote share on my UNIX systems using an ID for the share but different uid on the local system the share is mounted on.
This will ensure that the share can be accessed for read/write.
To the point:
HP-UX mount:
mount -F cifs -o username=user server:/mount /mnt/some_share
Linux mount:
mount -t smb -o username=user,uid=uid,gid=gid //server/mount /mnt/some_share
My problem is uid bit. It's not enough for me that I can authenticate on the remote server. I have to be able to write to it!
Is there a way without compromising remote machine by openning the share to read/write to entire world?
Thanks.
