after installation wat needs to be changed?

what are the minimum configuration changes we need to perform on the server after a OS is installed? like kernel tuning and some basic configs?

There are a lot of things you may change after installation like,
1. Kernel parameters
2. File system extension
3. Hostname change
4. Network information
etc.

There is no answer for this question as stated. The current default settings will be fine as long as no users logon to the system.

But a perfect layout in LVM will bring you a long way. If this is a oracle installation you will find a lot of information about kernel and disklayout both here and in there oracle installation documents.

As per the application which you are going to install i.e. oracle,sybase or SAP is going to install into this server then there are lot many patches need to install as per the software.
need to harding the server as per the client.
need to install new os, security patches...
