Agent snmpd appeared dead but responded to ping

Hello,

I am getting this error in syslog from one of our server very frequently..

Can somebody tell me
1] What exactly this errro means?
2] what is the solution to avoid this error?

It seems that your snmp configuration has some problem with community string.
Look at /etc/SnmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf
and make sure it has the 'right' community strings.

Is following analysis is right:


Causes:

1] SNMP configuration has some problem with community string in configuration file /etc/snmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf.
2] This problem may occur when there is fluctuation in the available network.
3] It is caused by the snmpd agent shutting itself off when they receive too many bad packets.

Solutions:

1] Check /etc/snmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf -- > Configure right community name to avoid bad packet errors.
2] Check if SNMP daemon is up and running on server
3] Check snmpdx.acl (.acl file needs to be configured with the recent recommended patch clusters).
4] Edit /etc/init.d/init.snmpdx so you run snmpdx with the undocumented "-f 0" option. This will at least stop the error messages from showing up in your logs."
5] If all fails then then restart the daemon.
/usr/sbin/snmpd start



Can you tell me what exactly thie snmpdx.acl file means???
