All 3 Ultra160 contollers throwing SCSI errors on 2 nodes

SCSI: Ultra160 Controller at 0/3/0/0: Error: T
he domain validation test for target 15 determined that communication may not be
possible to this target. Verify the hardware configuration.

The above is from the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file and is the ending error messasge from a string of output that starts with "vmunix: SCSI: isrEscape Controller at 0/3/0/0."

I can find none of these error messages on ITRC and can't believe we have 6 bad Ultra160s or 3 bad SCD10s right out of the box. There doesn't seem to be a patch addressing this particular message either.

I could sure use some help here...

If you have two initiators(cards) on the *same* SCSI bus you need to set the SCSI ID for one of them to something different than 7.

youre right, they cant all be bad. Have you the latest Ultra160 patch(es) installed ? Go to the itrc patch database and search for Ultra160 - 4 patches come up.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: All 3 Ultra160 contollers throwing SCSI errors on 2 nodes

There is a specific patch for ultra160 controller:
HPUX 11.0

PHKL_29093
or
PHKL_29494

Check if they are already applied.

Massimo

Bernard hit the target the first shot. The factory did not reset the SCSI ctl addresses on the backup system so both boxes were at ...7 I ASSUMED (I never learn!!) that the addresses were set correctly when the system was shipped or installed. Thanks Bernard
