I am trying to do an ISMP install on my HPUX box. Its a B.11.11, PA-RISC 2.0.
I am using the HP 1.3.1 sr8 ((build 1.3.1 1.3.1.08-_28_nov_2002_00_09 PA2.0, mixed mode)jvm, although I see this same problem using the HP 1.3.1.13 jvm as well. We've installed the cumulative December 2003 patches.
The install gets over 90% done, and then I get
the error below. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!

Signal 11 means no more processes/threads could be spawned.

Try increasing max_thread_proc (this is the maximum number of threads per process) to 128 (the default is 64, and this may not be enough). Also take a look at your nkthread (total number of kernel threads allowed) value.

I'm having the same problem with JRE 1.4.2. I tried increasing the number of threads, installing patches and configuring everything as suggested by HPjconfig, but the problem persistes. Have you found any solution to this problem?

The solution ended up being a problem with Installshield. They had put some code into one of their fixpacks that was causing this error.
The incident numbers associated with my
problem opened against IS are:
1-36898013 1-N9W23 1-W3X72
And the PR number is:
JHOY5Y3SPC
The only way I finally was able to get them to fix this was that they had to rebuild their kernel to match mine. Then they were able to figure it out pretty quickly.
