Has anyone installed Oracle 10g on HPUX 11.31?
Has anyone run into issues that would like to share?

Re: Any known HPUX 11.31 issues ?
As an opening disclaimer, I am not running 11.31.
HP-UX 11.31 brings vast changes in LVM. AMong them is the fact that the mass storage stack implements multi-path load-balancing across all paths. See:
http://docs.hp.com/en/LVMmigration1/LVM_Migration_to_Agile.pdf

SolutionI certainly hope its hard to find people that have run Oracle 10g on 11.31.
Many of their applicants and servers are not yet certified on the OS.
Seems however the database server may soon be certified. You should not do this installation without Oracle certifying it. Oracle releases different binaries for HP-UX 11.11 and 11.23, in fact two sets for 11.23 one PA-RISC, one Itanium.
Since Oracle doesn't list the OS as certified you should not do this.
Here is the problem:
11.31 is very new and there has yet to be a bi-annual patch update for it. Oracle has yet to completely determine all necessary OS patches.
The problems you list in the original post are show stoppers.
I don't think you are going to find anyone that has successfully installed Oracle on this OS because the oracle installer checks the OS version and halts the install if its not an OS level it recognizes.

Re: Any known HPUX 11.31 issues ?
you will find this interesting, but you should only install supported products in a productive environment:
http://www.oracle.com/corporate/press/2006_dec/SAPSD-wHP-Bmrk.html
quote:
"...The server was running the HP-UX 11iV3 operating system, Oracle Database 10g, ..."
Anyway, the 11.31 version of HP-UX supports many disk array multipathing solution native without additional software.
There are several matrixes on http://docs.hp.com
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Any known HPUX 11.31 issues ?
Oracle *do* list 11.31 on their matrix for 10g, but for 11.31 on PA-RISC, support is listed as 'projected'. I would read this as supported in the next 6 months.
It's already supported on 11.31 on Itanium, so I expect it is just a question of certification rather than porting - I expect Oracle would run OK, just don't expect support from Oracle/HP yet.
Incidentally looking at the notes for 10g on 11.31/IA64 I note that you need to use the option -ignoreSysPreReqs with the installer, and must make sure that PHKL_35936 is installed. I expect that would hold true for PA-RISC as well.
With the native multi-pathing for active/active arrays (like DMX) in 11.31 you don't really need to worry too much about PowerPath.

"PowerPath does not manage multi-pathing on HP-UX 11i v3. Native multi-pathing is used for EMC devices"

Hope this helps!
