Any recomendations Installing Ignite 11.00 April 2002?

Hi folks,

I will install Ignite-ux 11.00 april 2002 CD.
Do you have any special recomendations about it?
Do you have experience in do it?

Hi Justo,

Have not seen the CD yet. But think there should be no problem. When i have to install ignitte, i download it directly from the web,

don't know which version is there on the CD, but it should be latest.

It should be a no brainer, but first make sure you install the "latest" patch bundle, because it might rely on it.

Required pax patch


When Ignite-UX creates a system archive via make_sys_image(1M), it uses the pax(1) utility. You should install the latest pax(1) patch on the system where you will be creating your archive.

Obtain the appropriate patch from HP's IT Resource Center. Select: Maintenance and Support -> Individual Patches. A brief registration is required.

Ok, I found pax in my system:
HP1 #> whereis pax
pax: /sbin/pax /usr/bin/pax /usr/share/man/man1.Z/pax.1
HP1 #> what /sbin/pax
/sbin/pax:

$ PATCH/11.00:PHCO_24148 May 25 2001 08:04:43 $

Just to add another note..

HP had issued an advisory with the CD version of ignite 6.6.82

The problem wasn't inherent in the downloaded version.

Check to see if your version was .82 or .83(safe) version.

For the last question:

# man pax

is a command for archiving files like 'tar'. make_tape_recovery uses pax utility for creating the recovery tapes. It's recommended that you install the latest patches for pax while installing the ignite.

In order to resume the recomendations:

1.- Had installed the lastest pax patch (In this case Patch Name: PHCO_25418,Patch Description: s700_800 11.00 pax(1) cumulative patch)

2.- Obtain the latest verified version of Ignite-UX in downloaded or CD support (in my case ignite user interface $Revision: 10.644 $
Ignite-UX Revision B.3.6.83
install/h $Revision: 10.103 $ )

3.- Before install do two make_recovery or make_tape_recovery depends on the installed Ignite version.

4.- Install the new Ignite version.

5.- Pride for all the installation will go fine.

6.- If all fine, do a make_tape_recovery. If not pride so much...
