Hello,
I have APA running without issues on multiple servers running 11.11 in our shop. I have noticed that the default "lan aggregate start number/position" is lan900.
I'm assuming this "start" number is set by the following variable in ../hp_apaconf
HP_APA_START_LA_PPA=900
Well, I thought nothing of it and I used this setting for my configuration across all systems running 11.11.
Now, this past Sunday I needed to install/config APA on a system running 11.00. I noticed that the default start position was lan100.
HP_APA_START_LA_PPA=100
I tried changing this to 900, and making all other relevant changes to APA config files not forgetting netconf, as we try keeping our servers as consistent as possible.
Well it didn't work. The only way I could set up the aggregates is by starting at 100.
Why is this?
Thanks for your responses
Kirk

Hi Kirk,
By no way, I am an expert on APA (just reading about it as we may use it), but the Quick Install guide tells that starting ppa numbers 'are' different for various versions of hp-ux -
for hpux-11i, its 900; for hpux-11.00, its 100; and for hpux-10.20, its 90.
Does it cause any problem if you leave it on 100? Just curious because I may face the same scenario here!

Re: APA, aggregate start number, diff between 11.0 and 11.11
Thank you Manjeet:
I guess it pays to read the install before setting up. I have the Quick install in front of me now and I see exactly what you are talking about.
I have experienced no problems with APA using the given "start numbers." You should be fine.
Regards,
Kirk
