APA: No valid Fail-Over Group found
Dear All,
I'm preparing a HP-UX 11.31 machine to act as Cell Server.
To speedup the connections I created an LACP trunk with 4x 1Gbps connections using APA.
At the boot I get a couple of "FAIL" messages related to APA, and both are referred to:
Exiting: No valid Fail-Over Group found in input file /etc/lanmon/lanconfig.ascii
ERROR: lanapplyconf failed
But... Since i'm using this big 4GB conduit I don't want to have failover ports: in case one or 2 links go down, the remainings (with lower bandwidth) will go on.
So the question is: how to stop these messages?
They're presented from these boot steps:
- Configure HP AUTO-PORT AGGREGATION interfaces
- Configure Auto-Port Aggregation(LAN Monitor) interfaces
Thanks and regards,
Alessandro

Re: APA: No valid Fail-Over Group found
Ok solved.
Somehow an empty lanconfig.ascii has been created. It contained only commented instructions but no configuration informations.
And since the last point of the APA start (cit. from APA Admin manual) is:
5. LAN Monitor ASCII file is processed
Process /etc/lanmon/lanconfig.ascii to create failover groups. If this file has not
been created, no action is taken.
I resolved deleting this empty file (leaving only lanconfig.ascii.sample).
In this way I have my port aggregation with LACP working without errors caused by the try to apply an empty configuration file.
Bye, Alex
