We have machines with each 2 Gigabit Lancards (A6825). They have igelan1 driver.
When the driver loads it says: APA not supported on A6825-60101 PCI host based 1000Base-T adapter.
Do you have experience of APA on these cards. Or do you know it will/wont work?
Thanks
Donald

Re: APA over A6825 supported
What version apa do you have?
11.11 : B.11.11.07 or later
11.00 : B.11.00.16 or later
This will allow APA to function with the igelan cards.

Re: APA over A6825 supported
We do not have APA yet. I thought it came with the cards/OS when I ordered the machines.
For OS's, we have 11.0 and 11i. I am thinking of upgrading the 11.0 to 11i.

Re: APA over A6825 supported
I'm assuming you have at least the June 2002 version of the igelan driver product. The March 2002 version only supports rp7410 core LAN (A6794A).
You can do an swlist to get the list of installed software on your system. The GigEther-01 bundle should have a version 11.11.04 or later.
(If you are freshly installing a system, it is always best to install the latest version of the software. The latest version is the September 2002 version 11.11.07.)
Note that the B.11.11.01 (December 2001) version of the igelan driver product is NOT supported. If you have this version, please upgrade.
If you are not using the APA product, you can safely ignore the APA not supported message. This message is output by the igelan driver when it detects either of the following two conditions:
1. APA is not installed, or
2. The installed APA version is too old.
If you intend to use APA, you should install the March 2002 or later version of APA. The APA not supported message will disappear after this installation.
You can also install the latest APA patch to get APA support on igelan.
Release notes for igelan should be available in your system under /opt/networkdocs. The release notes will give you complete information on what patches you need to get the igelan driver to work with various products.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Re: APA over A6825 supported
Unless something has changed recently, APA is _not_ bundled with either the OS or the NIC drivers. It is a separate product.

Re: APA over A6825 supported
Just to clarify: APA is still a separate product that needs to be purchased by the customer.
Thanks.
