I downloaded depot "B9416AA 2.0.43.00.05 HP Apache-based Web Server" from software.hp.com. It includes Apache 2.0.43 and PHP 4.2.2. The instructions with it state to enable PHP, one simply removes the comment from the LoadModule...libphp4.so line. If I do this, httpd hangs on startup. I have to kill -9 it. Apache works fine without the PHP DSO loaded. Any ideas?
We *are* running another http server, currently (aolserver). Apache is currently using port 8888, to avoid clashing with that.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Charles

Re: Apache 2.0.43 and PHP 4.2.2 from HP depot on 11.11
Turns out it is doing this for both libphp4.so and mod_perl.so. I've seen reports on php.net about Apache on HP-UX having trouble with DSOs. HP is supplying the SOs in question here, so how is it they're not working?
Got any ideas?
Thanks,
Charles

Solution
Apache+PHP works on HP-UX, because i'm using it,
Apache 2 also.
I didn't used a depot for it, but compile on my own (with gcc).
I made a change in PHP sources to make it work on HP-UX11.0 (I don't have a 11.11).
See this thread with all the details :
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x531c36e69499d611abdb0090277a778c,00.html
I posted the changes to phpnet dev team, may be the 4.2.2 is OK now ! I didn't try !

Benoit

Re: Apache 2.0.43 and PHP 4.2.2 from HP depot on 11.11
Benoit, thanks for your help! While I did not compile from source, your link on installing Apache2/PHP/etc. included the important clue. Under the instructions, you state it's imperative to have PHSS_22514 installed. This is the ld (linker) cumulative patch. While that version isn't valide for our 11.11/s800 installation, I did find PHSS_26560, installed it, and now I am 100% functional!
Thanks again for your help. My biggest delay has been ITRC not being 100% up. I could not search for patches, etc. It seems better now, but I hope this doesn't continue. Or, rather, I hope I don't need ITRC for a while :)
