Apache process takes HIGH cpu

Team:

WE are experiencing problem with the hanging child process (httpd)causing CPU hog. This seems to occur randomly. Have anyone faced these issues and what could be the fix. We run 11.0 on a 2cpu on L class.

Thanks

Re: Apache process takes HIGH cpu

Did you look in to the security bulletins released on Apache web servers? Did you install the latest recommended version and it's patches? If not, try that first.

I would also check if some web based process is causing this. Check your process list with Glance.

Hi Brian,

what is the Apache version about your system?
Look the following link:

I hope this helps you.

Re: Apache process takes HIGH cpu

Last spring there was a bug identified in Oracle 9IAS Apache/Tomcat components (#2771687) such that a RST issued for a nonexistent SSL connection during would cause httpd processes to spin out of control. The flaw was in the core code for Tomcat, as I recall.

Re: Apache process takes HIGH cpu

Make sure apache is patched:

take some perofmrance data and look for issues in the infrastructure/kernel shared memory that might effect apache.

Script attached.

Apache is a big user of shared memory, there needs to be enough.
