Apache requests for file default.ida

Starting about 2 weeks ago, I have been getting several requests a minute for this file on my Apache server from the internet.

What is this file type and why would it be being requested?

Re: Apache requests for file default.ida

That is the Code Red virus looking for a MS IIS server. Since you are running Apache you won't be affected. The logs just show that the Code Red virus is looking for another IIS to infect.

The .ida extension is a MS Index Server file.

Re: Apache requests for file default.ida

That was my first reaction to what I was seeing, but did not know for sure.

Thanks
