Are 32 bit apps with Oracle 9i possible?
Someone here at work believes that we must convert all of our applications to 64-bit in order to link with Oracle 9i libraries.
I've already seen that there is a 32-bit library with Oracle 9i and I don't see any reason why we need to convert.
I have the feeling that the fact that the Oracle 9i server requires a 64 bit platform has been distorted into "everything must be 64 bit". Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any statement in any of Oracle documents or web pages that clearly states "you CAN build a 32 bit app with Oracle 9i libraries."
So -- can I build a 32-bit app with Oracle 9i libraries? Is there any reason to switch my Oracle app to 64-bit other than if the app needs more memory or is there anything that I cannot do with the 32 bit libraries?
Thanks!
Bill

No troulbes have been traced to this setup.
It is certified by Oracle.
Here is an oracle migration procedure for moving the datagbase from 32 bit to 64 bit environment.(Attached)
