ascii file generated with cmgetconf fails with cmapplyconf

I created an ascii config file using:
cmgetconf -c OracleCluster cmclconfig.vince

When I try to apply the same file without changes, I get the following:
cmapplyconf -v -k -C cmclconfig.vince

Checking cluster file: cmclconfig.vince

cmapplyconf : Unable to reconcile configuration file cmclconfig.vince
with discovered configuration information.

All the volume groups are active and in use either by one or all the nodes in the cluster. However, they all show up as "not found on any nodes in the cluster." ???

The cluster is a 3 node cluster.

Any thoughts or direction would be helpful. Thaks.

Re: ascii file generated with cmgetconf fails with cmapplyconf

shalom,

Amazing!

A meaningful error message from the OS.

Check the configuration file and see what volume group it is referring to.

Find out its status and whether or not it exists on your system. See about making corrections to the VG and making sure it is visible to those nodes that need to see it.

It could be a typo, or it could be a bug that needs a fix.

What version of SG? Do you have it patched?

Re: ascii file generated with cmgetconf fails with cmapplyconf

Vincent,

I would think that besides checking your vg in the conf file mak sure that one of the server has the VG active in exclusive mode.

I hope it helps

Re: ascii file generated with cmgetconf fails with cmapplyconf

If cmgetconf created the ascii config file, wouldn't it be correct from the start? I performed no edits to the file.

Re: ascii file generated with cmgetconf fails with cmapplyconf

Since packages control the activation of the volume groups, would it be possible just to remove the entries from the cmclconfig.vince ascii file then cmapplyconf?

Would this effect the running cluster in any way?

Re: ascii file generated with cmgetconf fails with cmapplyconf

Ok so you are using the a new ascii file that was created from a running. Did you stop the cluster before applying this newconfig. I believe if a current cluster isrunning and you are using a second conf file that uses the same devices you will get the errors. cluster have to beoffline or use different devices.
