Ask about mirror.

I have a mirror of vg00, one of this disk is broken, and there are several commands that can't I do for example, vgdisplay, lvdisplay.
This is the reason that I can`t broke the mirror. I have a new disk, and shutdon and change it, but must I create the mirror again or there is another way.
Thanks

Re: Ask about mirror.

You're going to have to give us a little more. You don't really mirror a whole volume group.

You mirror logical volume by logical volume.

So which logical volumes are giving you trouble? How about an error message from vgdisplay and lvdisplay.

Love to help. Need some info.

Re: Ask about mirror.

Go to this site:

http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/iv/enterService.do?NODEID=English_SHW%3A%3ADE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E%2FQ1&ANSWER=HP-UX+Software+Recovery+Handbook&FROMID=English_SHW&admit=-1335382922+1048255406020+28353475

Select "HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook"

Then select "Chapter 16 - Logical Volume Manager (LVM)"

Then select "LVM"

What you'll get is a PDF document. You want to go to the section titled "Replacing a Failed Disk"

That should walk you through the process.

Good luck,

Pete

Re: Ask about mirror.

Look for replacing a root (or non-root depending on your case) Mirrored Disk in this document

Re: Ask about mirror.

Should just be three commands:

vgcfgrestore -n /dev/vg00 /dev/rdsk/c?t?d?

vgchange -a y /dev/vg00

vgsync /dev/vg00
