Attaching OCE Printer to HP box

I have become involed at the tail end of a problem. I need to be able to print from HP-UX 11 to a OCE model 3145 printer configured on a remote network.

The problem is that the environment needs to send "enhanced" print formatting via lp to the printer.

Has anyone any advice about these printers.

I have suggested attacking the printer to a HP Jetdirect print server, but the pc support team that also use this printer are not keen on the idea.
Does it matter? If it matters, does it matter that it matter?

The best way to share this printer is to attach it to a jetadmin print server, for easy distribution and accessibility.

I agree with Chris. Attach the printer to a jet direct print server. We use these for many different types of printers and have had no difficulty interfacing them to PCs. What are the PC support people afraid of? In addition, if the printer has both a network and parallel port, you can have PC's print through the network port, the HP server through a jet direct server connected to the parallel port.
