Auto Port Aggregation Installation
Hi
I have two rp5470 server with two HP A6847-60101 PCI 1000 Base-SX network cards along with two HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter running on HP-UX 11i.When i install Auto Port Aggregation software along with it's patch PHNE_28778, network cards configuration changes to un-configured status while systems comes after reboot.Sometimes server does'nt come up at all . I checked up syslog to find error message stating that APA not Supported on HP A6847-60101 PCI 1000 Base-SX Adapter. I want to make sure if APA can work along with 1000Base-SX network card and also Fibre Channel Adapter.Bascially i want my server to have one IP address to both the network cards.
TIA
Sri

Re: Auto Port Aggregation Installation
Hi
Gigabit SX are supported by APA. What can not work then? Check that both Gigabit cards has the same speed and duplex settings (lanadmin),
check that the switch is of supported type (ie
HP, Cisco catalyst 3com - see more here http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4240-90016/00/00/7-con.html ) - ie Nortel not there.
Next, I'd check link aggregation support by the switch (in case and switch is supported by APA) with consideration of what type of link aggregation is set on APA (have you configured it to what- manual / fec_auto ) - if its fec/ auto you should check that switch supports FEC.Otherwise set it to manual.
See here on configuring APA :
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4240-90016/00/00/33-con.html
remember that there are 2 files in /etc/rc.config.d/
1)hp_apaconf
2)hp_apaportconf
See examples in the doc, also how to use lanadmin to verify that aggregation works and on what ports.
