Autoloader problem

Dear all,

I have N4000 box with HP-optical libray 2/32
it has 2 drives & 32 slots.
This is configured through OMNI-BACK II
as follows

I have configured a Jukebox
with 2 drive & 32 slot media pool.

This media pool showing the total size as
5.2 GB * total initialized medias.

for example

if I initalize 5 medias in pool
it will show 26GB total size.ie I can
take the backup upto 26GB without any
manual interactions.

But when I give backup,
Omniback shows, which are the medias
going to be used for
this backup, in a sequence
and
It loads first media
in to drive as per sequence,& takes backup
upto 2.6GB(as single side size)

Afterwards it giveup by giving error

"media(media_lable)not found.
backup up terminated with error."

ie. it is not autoloading the second media
as in the sequence.

Any Solution?

Anybody faced the same?

Please HELP me!!!

Thanks
R.Mahendran.

Re: Autoloader problem

Have you initialized all the media in you media pool?. If not you can turn on the
"auto-init" flag in the pool and when the
media pool uses an "un-initialized" media, it will init it first.

Re: Autoloader problem

Omniback patches and version may be important here...I recall an issue with 5.2 GB media, we may not support it in some versions, or it may require a patch (the original media sizes were 1.3 and 2.6...) and we had an issue writing more than 4GB.

Is this hardware on the compatibility matrix for your version of Omniback? If not look to other versions.

Are you able to scan each of the platters (slots...) If not, there may be a configuration issue, hardware issue, low level driver issue, etc.

Are the platters in correctly? As I recall, there is an A side and B side...this orientation does in fact make a difference...

By the way, look in the 'Openview Applications' forum for more Omniback calls...thats where the Omniback guys are (mostly) hanging out.

Good Luck.
Omniback and NT problems? double check name resolution, DNS/HOSTS...
