backup and its fundas

Dear friends,
please clear all these 1)what is the default block size using tar,cpio,pax,fbackup,and ignite backup in hp unix
2)Are these utilities are giving any compression level .If it is there plese clear it
3)for what purpose pax utilities using

4)how the ignite unix is working ,is it working with any of the utilities as back end

1) Do not know. Doesn't really matter.
2) None of them compress. gzip compresses.
3) pax and gzip compress
4) pax is what Ignite uses to compress its images made by make_sys_image
