Backup crossing NFS-link

Is it possible (using OmniBack II, 3.50) to make backups of nfs filesystems? Will I be able to restore the data with the correct attributes/rights (rwxrwxrwx)?

Re: Backup crossing NFS-link

Hi

I believe omniback uses fbackup and this supports an option -n to cross nfs mount points, unfortunatly I dont have this version of omniback so i am unable to test and prove this for you.

cheers

Re: Backup crossing NFS-link

Yes, Omniback will backup a file system mounted over NFS, but I would only recommend doing it this way if you can't install an Omniback agent on the source system (ie the NFS server).

Re: Backup crossing NFS-link

hi,

Yes, Omniback will backup NFS filesystems. The attributes which you see using ls command on the NFS mount will be the ones with which it is backed up by Omniback.

But, unless there is no other choice, i wouldnt suggest backup across NFS.
