Backup Error

The tape drive HP40 does not accept the dds4 20/40GB tapes. Each time you put a tape it say's 'Please remove the media from the drive' and you have no option but to find the tape ejected. This happens even if there is not tape.
We are using Veritus Ver 9.1 for our backups.

And find the attached error message.

What can we do?

Please help?

Can you tell me following detail

1)What is the model of the drive
use ioscan -fnC tape and find out
2)Cab you try tar command on this device and
see the output
3)Wheater other tape work on this drive
4)Put a lower capacity tape and try
