Backup failed..
Hi team,
I am getting the followiong error.
root@holland>tail -f incr-log.1002
fbackup(3044): ioctl error, can't query outfile
at media record 35539
fbackup(3102): attempting to make this volume salvagable
fbackup(3123): could not read the previous checkpoint record
fbackup(3105): writing 2 EOFs and rewinding the tape
fbackup(3106): please mount a good tape
fbackup(3040): output file /dev/rmt/0m encountered an I/O error
fbackup(3019): would you like to enter a new output file?
fbackup(3004): writer aborting
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit
I tried changing the tapes also. Can anyone give me a solution.

have you tried cleaning of tape drive.
you can check drive with other type of backups like tar.

check a different tape. If it doesn't work, it looks like your drive is faulty. Might need a drive replacement.
Try
# mt -t /dev/rmt/0m staus and the
# mt -t /dev/rmt/0m offl commands with the tape inside and see how it works.

when i do a "mt status, mt rewind , mt offline" everything is working. Even if do 1MB backup it's working.

your output shows that 1mn is not getting detected.but 0mn is claimed.
but it is old output
can you post the output of
ioscan -fnC tape
(note:don't use u option)

When i try to install the Hp_tape_tool, it's giving the following error. Can anyone help me out to successfully install the tapedrive_tool.

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start
and that should fix the problem. This is not unique to TapeTools...installing any HP software using swinstall (applications, patches, etc) would give you the same error.
