Backup / Restore methods in HP Integrity servers
Hi,
I have a 2 node cluster at two differnt locations.
These are HP Integrity Itanium servers.
I want to implement a backup /recovery procedure which will:-
1. Backup all my data filesystems which are actually mounted on different VxVM volumes.
2. Provide system recovery in case of a disaster and one site is unavailable or in case one of the node has crashed due to a system disk failure.
3. Backup all my LVM and VxVM volumes in case one of them gets corrupt.

Re: Backup / Restore methods in HP Integrity servers
Wizzard,
To backup your filesystems you want to use a backup tool such as Data Protector or Netbackup. Ideally, you would have a server dedicated to provide this function. In your case it may be necessary to have one at each site. You would then roll out client software to the two nodes in your cluster to allow backup to tape devices.
Alternatively, and budget allowing. You could go for a storage array which provide a facility to replicate your filesystems. Both internally, and across site. You could then merge this facility together with Ignite to provide your DR strategy.
HTH,
Berd
