backup software

Can anyone recommend any backup software other than OmniBack and SAM(fbackup) for an HP9000 I70 box running HP-UX 10.20?

Legato's NetWorker is a good choice.

Re: backup software

You could also look at "Backup Express" at
www.backup-express.com or BRU which is available from numerous soucres. Just search the web for Bru Backup Software.

Good luck!

Re: backup software

Hi Carol,

What are the specific issues you have with using fbackup/Omniback?

Re: backup software

Trevor:
I am currently using BRU, which I don't particularly care for. I would love to use OmniBack. I have used before and its really a great product to use. But . . . cost, OmniBack is more than my company wants to spend. fbackup is currently not working on this box (could be due to large amount of patching that needs to be done). Did I mention I am 2 months on this job.

Re: backup software

Hi Carol,

I do not know of any worthwhile backup solutions that are not going to cost money.

fbackup would seem to me to be the way to go if you can get it working. If you would like to post some more info on the problems you are having with fbackup then maybe we can solve them.

Cheers, Trevor

Re: backup software

fbackup should work on your server but I70 means a machine that is of a certain age (1993-4?) so it could be you are not using the correct DATs (90) for this machine, and for increasing data volume size to backup, I would suggest you buy an external DDS2 (DDS3 but that cost much more), that should do the job, thats what I did with a H50 I had until recently...
Good luck
