Backup Solution

I am currently running EDM an EMC Backup Product. Been using it for 4 years. Running on a Sun box attached to a ATL, has its own FDDI network and runs like a pig. The software stinks, the product is very hard to manage. I am looking into a new solution. So far it looks like Legato, its very fast and easy to use. However, we are an HP shop. Does anyne know if there is a trial download of Omniback?
Also, any EDM customers out there? I'd like to bounce some questions around please.

Thanks,
Bob Menefee

Re: Backup Solution

We just leveraged EDM against Veritas, and drove down the cost of Veritas for our enterprise by over 3 million US dollars! I guess some veritas salesman won't be buying any new toys! Veritas thought they could take us to the cleaners - guess it didn't work out for them :-)

Please N/A here. Good luck Robert!

Re: Backup Solution

You can download a trial version of Omniback from:

http://www.openview.hp.com/products/omniback/seetrybuy/index.asp

Further on, there is an excellent forum here as well:

Re: Backup Solution

You should definately check out OB as an option - it has some excellent integrations with the EMC disk array which would allow you to continue to leverage the benefit of your BCVs... also it usually works out as pretty cheap compared to the competition...
