Backup with SAM and fbackup only backs up 250GB to LTO3 tape drive
We are running HP_UX 11i v11.23 on an HP Integrity servers with an LTO3 tape drive attached.
We make backups from SAM that uses the fbackup utility. Although the tape drive has LTO3 data cartridges load we can only backup about 250GB of data.
ioscan shows the drive as an Ultrium 3-SCSO.
Has anybody come across this before, or have any suggestions as to what might be causing this?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Backup with SAM and fbackup only backs up 250GB to LTO3 tape drive
Ultrium 3 is rated 400 GB/800 GB comprssed.
I would suspect either the tape driver is out of date or the system needs a bi-annual patch set, or perhaps a special one for Ultrium. You may want to do a search of the patch database at http://itrc.hp.com
Also, don't have any other devices on the SCSI chain.
Lastly, you may have a bad box of tapes.

You can also use the HP StorageWorks Tape Tools program to help with trouble shooting.
Just some simple softare to ID tape drives and volume test them.
It can be found under just about any tape drive software search on the business support center.
here is can example link.
