Base Veritas Question

Hello,
I would like to know ....what tasks can be and can not be accomplished using the base veritas that comes with HPUX Os itself.
In other words the difference between base veritas and licensed product.
Please advice.

Actually, all the base product really offers you is the journalled file system which speeds up fsck time significantly by recording changes in journals which are then read back during fsck. You also get the fsadm command but the only function available to you is the ability to switch back and forth from largefiles to no-largefiles. There may be a few other minor things offered but I can't think of any at the moment.

The licensed product, OnlineJFS, offers the ability to resize file systems online, without having to unmount them and the ability to re-org file systems. Once again, there may be other minor features, but those are the major ones.

The base product permits you to mirror vxvm rootvg.

The upgraded product lets you defragment vxfs filesystems and reduce them and enlarge them without umounting.

Thats the summary.

Thanks, Steve - I keep forgetting that they've added mirroring to the base product. Of course I didn't mention it for the licensed product either. I guess I just plain forgot it.
