I'm getting an error message when activating the command:
bdf
the error message is:
bdf:
According to an HP document (found on theb web thru HP site, see attachment) about large files, this error is returned when a command does not support large data files.
According to the same document, bdf is a command which should support all data files sizes.
Is there a specific patch to solve this problem ?
Regards,
Shai Kedem, Israel

Solutioni think that we are the only pepole that work on sunday .
about your que. you are rigth the bdf need to support also large file and your error that you are getting is a bug in the bdf command
first of all you will need to install :
PHCO_23117 - s700_800 11.00 bdf(1M) cumulative patch .
there is an open JAG( a call to the labs of HP ) about this error and there isnt any patch
to fix this problem .
i know that there is a workaround for the command bdf but for that i need you to call the israel response center to open a call because i got have a fix version of the bdf and i need to ask the WTEC to send me the fix but for that i need a call open .
but i know for fact that this error is a bug .
hope that i help you

Re: bdf fails on large Oracle data files
This can be an alternative to bdf.

Re: bdf fails on large Oracle data files
If you have ONLINEJFS, you can change the file system behaviour online with
fsadm -o largefiles /mounted_directory
If you don't have OnlineJFS, you may consider getting it installed on your system. There are a lot many other advantages of having it like snapshot file systems for backup, defragmentation, online resizing of the logical volumes etc,

Re: bdf fails on large Oracle data files
O.K. For the time-being till HP comes up with a fix, you can survive with df.
