Best Practices with LIVE & BACKUP HP-UX DC OE OS on nPARs & vPARs on BL980 i4
Hi,
I have a BL890c i4 with 4 nPars (HP BL890c i4 nPars enablement kit). Physically I could see the BL890c marked with ABCD. On the C7000 Onboard Administrator web interface i could see the 4 * Monarchs. I also have QTY = 14 * HP Startup vPAR or Virtual Machine SVC.
My goal is to create LIVE, TEST, DEV, TRAINING and BACKUP (cluster) environments for different applications and databases. The OS is HP-UX 11i v3 Data Center OE.
1- I need guidelines for Best Practices:
a- Is it possible to combine all 4 monarchs into one big server and create vPARs virtual servers to host different environments/applications/Databases.
b- Is it possible to combine vPARs and VMs so that the VMs would be used for Windows Management servers.
c- Is this the best way? LIVE/PRODUCTION must stay on the physical machine directly (to avoid performance delay by virtualization overhead). Creating on the same physical machine different vPARS for related TRAINING, DEVELOPMENT, TEST.
2- Based on the license above, how many vPARs and VMs can we create in maximum ?
Regards,
Yaboto
