BIND 4.9.7 search directive limitation of 6 entries.

Hi there..
I'm a subdomain DNS administrator in a large and complex DNS arrangement. Our team manage servers for multiple companies and domain names and as such have a plethora of domain names and parent names to search through to save us typing fully qualified names. We've picked the top six for the search directive but could probably use another 6. We have a primary and a secondary DNS server on site. Is there any way I can use forwarders or manipulate the data to get around this limitation? Is it still a limitation of BIND 8?
