BIOS serial console automatic option

Hi,

I am trying to figure out whay the "Automatic" option if for in the BIOS serial console setup.

I thought it would mean that if the system detects a keyboard or a screen connected to it the POST messages would appear on the screen, and if not they would be redirected to the serial port.

But with this option, it always sends the output to the screen. The only way to send the POST messages to the serial port has been selecting "COM1".
