BL60p - Getting error trying to install HPUX 11.23

We are still getting errors installing HPUX 11.23 June 2006 on a BL60p blade server. Here's what we are getting...
ERROR: Your system crashed before I/O and dump configuration was complete.
This system does not support a crash dump under these circumstances.
Contact your HP support representative for assistance.

I posted a question earlier and it was recomended to try and install a later version so we tried to install HPUX 11.23 June 2007 and we still get the same thing.
We called HP and they asked what model USB DVD-ROM drive are we using. It's a plain DVD-ROM we pulled out of a DELL PC and mounted in an external USB 2.0 case. They're questioning the compatability of it. My question is, is there a list of external USB HP DVD-ROM drives that is compatable for the BL60p. Or even a list of any compatable External USB DVD drives?

It's a plain DVD-ROM we pulled out of a DELL PC and mounted in an external USB 2.0 case.

HP-UX has been very successful by limiting the universe of hardware it supports.

They're questioning the compatability of it. My question is, is there a list of external USB HP DVD-ROM drives that is compatable for the BL60p.

Or even a list of any compatable External USB DVD drives?

There may be no compatible external USB DVD drives at all. Does the blade enclose not have a shared DVD drive?

Since you have contacted HP support, it is not unreasonable to ask them to tell you what drive to use.

I did ask for a list drives and I haven't recieved a reply yet.
The BL60p does not have a DVD drive at all. Instructions say to use an external USB DVD drive and plug into one of the USB ports on the dongle. It specifies which port so that is the one we plugged it into. See: http://docs.hp.com/en/AD000-90010-en/AD000-90010-en.pdf page 66.

If anyone has installed an OS on a BL60p through an external DVD, what model did you use?

I'm sure you already read this

"Make sure to use the USB-01 port on the local I/O cable when connecting an external
USB DVD/CD device for an OS install. If you use the lower connector (USB-00), the
OS will not load properly"

but did you consider to use ignite to install?

This is what I would do:

1) try another DVD drive
2) take another server as ignite server and install from there

We don't have another server for ignite. I'll bring in my Sony DVD drive tomorrow and try it.

Thanks Sameer, the website lists this drive "MultiBay DVD +/- RW Drive DC189B" and is the one we would like to purchase. Where can I buy it from? I can't find it anywhere on the web via google search.

Well, I was expecting the screen shots from the OS installation begin phase until the "ERROR" . Can you post them?

Can someone confirm that the USB on the BL20p is 2.0 or 1.1?

USB ports are 2.0 as mentioned in the QuickSpecs link I posted above.
