BMC discovery tool and cstm, need output example
We are using BMC's discovery tool to inventory our systems but the tool is expecting an output from newer version of cstm. Could some one with a new HPUX box send me the output of
echo "selclass qualifier cpu;info;wait;infolog" | /usr/sbin/cstm ?
The tool is looking to find the fields that start at "FRU INFORMATION" but when I run the command I don't get that tag. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Todd

Re: BMC discovery tool and cstm, need output example
I think they are looking for the wrong string, I don't see that running the tool on a couple of systems with recent versions of STM.
Which version of STM do you have, and what hardware?

Re: BMC discovery tool and cstm, need output example
It does look like the version of support tools is the issue. I have a newer rp3440 with Sup-Tool-Mgr B.11.11.15.13 Support Tools Manager for HPUX systems and that seems to work. The other boxes are running Sup-Tool-Mgr B.11.11.12.09 Support Tools Manager for HPUX systems or older. Thanks for the help.

Re: BMC discovery tool and cstm, need output example
even the 11.11.15 version is very old - Dec 2004.
I would recommend to upgrade to a more recent and supported version (B.11.11.19 - June 2007) see
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: BMC discovery tool and cstm, need output example
I have the same version of the "Support Tools Manager" (B.11.11.18.05) running on 2 HP-UX 11.11 systems. One system is an rp4440 and the other is an rp5470.
On the rp4440 I get output from cstm that includes FRU Information, but on the rp5470 I do NOT.
The rp4440 has dual-core PA8800 CPUs running at 1GHz.
The rp5470 has PA8700 CPUs running at 650 MHz.
I think the difference is PA8800 vs. PA8700 CPUs. The PA8800 has appears to have more information available to cstm.
